If you want to be a writer, stop talking about it and sit down and write!
Jackie Collins
I have a shed at the end of the garden, where I write most of the time. When I’m not writing or editing a book, I tend to be lecturing about it or visiting schools to share my love of what I do. If you’re interested in getting me along, here’s everything you need to know. If you’re on this site because you love to write too, check out my writing tips. Writing is hard. I love every single thing about it: creating characters, researching, plotting, sitting in the library eating a Twirl and wondering what to say next, then hearing from readers and writing back. But it’s tough. So if you want to be a writer and yet you find it tricky to actually do, don’t worry – that’s normal. As Jackie Collins said, you just need to get on and do it.
Here are some of the books that have inspired me. I hope they give you ideas. And below is how the shed looks on the inside. On a tidy day. Which is so rare I took an actual photo. I’d to think my life always looked this organised …
And if you’d like to see me talking about the books from the shed on a more normal (ie messy) day, check it out here.
