US cover reveal!

It’s not out until 2013, but Siobhan, my lovely editor in NYC (can I tell  you how much I enjoy writing that?) has just shared with me what Scholastic are planning for the cover of The Look in the US. [Update: she's written a comment about it below, by the way. Fascinating! See if you can spot it.]

It’s different. It’s arresting. It doesn’t shy away from post-chemo hair, and for that I admire it.

What do you think? Which do you prefer? US or UK? Tell me!

OK, here it is …

I think the US cover looks amazing! Really stands out the cover of the story! But I remember picking out ‘The Look’ and thinking that it would be a good book just from reading the blurb. I know You’re never meant to judge a book by its cover, but people do that! And the cover of the UK version speaks inside of the book more, unlike the US one. When I read the book, I read the unexpected. And that’s what made me love it more! The cover didn’t have to speak a lot for me.

OH WOW I DIDN’T KNOW THAT STUFF! You and I are going to have to do a joint blog on this, Siobhan. 2 different girls? Amazing! And yes, I totally go for the violet eyes. I hope America does too. xxx

Hi Melanie. I’m glad you love that one too. Such a great visit today. Thank you all for being such a cool, interested audience. I really enjoyed it. Hope you did too. xxx

I Love The UK Cover Better, I Brought Today, When Visiting My School! xx

Guess which one gets my vote?! What’s especially fascinating about it (I always love the subtle, you know. And the not-so-subtle alike!) is that the photo really is a match-up of two different girls, but after the shoot w/photog Michael Frost, the creative director Elizabeth did such an expert job of putting them together, you really do wonder where one ends and the other begins. My fave part may be Ava’s supernaturally violet eyes!

Hi Eden. Great comment! Thanks, I’m sure you’ll make some lovely New York publishers very happy! xxx

  10. Eden says:

I think the UK version looks prettier and nicer and more girly but the US version gets the message across more and looks more intriguing and interesting.
I slightly more prefer the US cover because it shows that the book isnt all about the happy world of fashion but it also shows the story of Ava. Also because it is alot more eye catching even without all the pink from the UK version.
Really enjoying the book so far! xxx
